Asia One Books
Established in 2007, Asia One Books has evolved into one of the most prolific art book publishers and distributors in Hong Kong. We strive to publish works that represent the city’s art scene as it develops – documenting its fascinating stories while bringing wider exposure to Hong Kong’s most talented artists, photographers, illustrators, designers and architects. We also regard each of our publications as a work of art in itself, created with unstinting dedication to craftsmanship in design, colour management and printing.
“brownie publishing” is an independent publisher, which works for promoting Hong Kong art of photography and Photobook, so that the public may come to know more outstanding local photographers. Ever since the popularization of cameras and prevalence of social networks, photography has become part of Hong Kong people’s life. Photography as artistic creation, however, seems somewhat remote. We aim at exploring more creative possibilities of ourselves, our environment, and humanities through the medium of photography.
Case Publishing is a Tokyo based publisher founded in 2015. We focus on artistic culture which consists of contemporary art, photography and design.
Established by Shauba Chang in 2016, dmp editions works with different artists and focuses on engaging the five senses with creation contents, as well as experimenting ceaselessly on how to let publishing become the sixth sense for reading.
Editions Bessard is a Paris-based independant publishing house created by Pierre Bessard in 2011. With its innovative and creative design, and its limited printed edition, Editions Bessard distinguish themselves from the classical photobook publishing house. Publishing both emerging artists and renowned artists as Joan Fontcuberta, Bill Henson, Ed Templeton, Ren Hang or Pieter Hugo, Editions Bessard is always seeking new artists and new ways to realise intellectually challenging projects.
Among these main publications, two collections were created : the Zine collection with its 27 issues were a success (most of them are sold out) and the new one the Bespoke Collection with is 4 first issues. Books of exception in collaboration with chinese artists like History of Monuments by Wang Qinsong, (Leporello book of 8.40 m) or Mengxi 2 by Wei Bi, Han Lei, Luo Yang, Chen Jiagang, Xu Yong... embody the strong attachment of Editions Bessard to China.

Imageless Studio 無像工作室
Imageless Studio is devoted to photography and independent publications. Our designed and regularly published photozine — Imageless, presents photography works by the young talents based in China. Imageless Studio has published 6 Photobooks since 2016, including Imageless, Imageless 2 "Tokyo&Shanghai", Imageless 3, Imageless 4, "Memory of the lake", and "A River Passing Through The Mountains".
Jiazazhi Press 假雜誌
Jiazazhi Press is a photo publisher, devoted to exploring the possibilities of photo work presentation on hands. Established in 2009 in Beijing, China, we have moved to Ningbo, a city by the East Sea of China in 2014. Our practices include webzine, magazine, publishing project, bookshop, library, and photo art broadcasting locally.
KAIDO BOOKS 街道
Kaido is an independent gallery, publisher and book shop managed by Koji Onaka and 10 other members. Located in Nakano, Tokyo, Kaido sells self-published photobooks and “Kaido Magazine”, published several times a year. Kaido actively participates in photobook related events in and out of Japan, including Polycopies at Paris and Cosmos at Arles. Until today, Kaido still remains with the very Japanese independent gallery style, originated from the 1970s, where photographer-members plan and run their own exhibitions, edit and sell the photobooks on their own.
Le Plac'Art Photo
Le Plac’Art Photo is an independent bookshop for rare and second-hand photobooks as well as selected new photobooks, with a particular emphasis on Japanese photography. The bookshop works closely with independent publishers and promotes self-published photobooks, most of which are limited editions. Le Plac’Art Photo also organises exhibitions and book launches and issues thematic catalogs (“Night”, “Revolt”, “Appropriation” and most recently, photobooks dealing with the Japanese island of Okinawa).

Match and Company / bookshop M
Based in Tokyo, "bookshop M” was established in 2005 and organized by the creative design studio “MATCH and Company”, who stands out in photography and editorial design. One of the specific features of MATCH and Company is its deep knowledge about the indispensable factors for book making: typography, paper, ink, printing, binding, history of book design, methods, and materials widely. bookshop M started to distribute abroad their original photography publications with limited 700-1000 editions through internet in 2009. The roles of bookshop M is to broaden distribution channels of both labels and the books designed, and to be the communication medium directly between readers and the publisher, as well as to cooperate with good bookshops all over the world based on true and mutual understanding of each other.

shashasha started in 2013 with the aim of delivering Asian photography to a worldwide audience. With a selection of over 1200 titles, including artist prints and vintage photobooks, shashasha’s diverse artist line-up ranges from rare titles by photography icons such as Nobuyoshi Araki, Daido Moriyama, Kazuo Kitai, Keizo Kitajima and Takashi Hamaguchi to works by vibrant newcomers. In Fall 2016, we began to widen our selection to include publications by selected photobook publishers from all over the world.

The Salt Yard
Established in January 2013, The Salt Yard is an independent art space dedicated to photography. Scarcely found in Hong Kong, the many exhibitions it held with works from local and overseas photographers were well-received. Since the closure of its exhibition venue in the spring of 2015, it has turned its focus on the development of an online bookstore specialized on lesser-known photobooks published by independent photographers and publishers. With emphasis to publications from the Greater China and Asia, these photobooks are rarely found in major bookshops. The Salt Yard hopes the public can have more chances to be exposed to these publications, which are full of character, so as to have a deeper understanding of contemporary photography in the world.
The Salt Yard於2013年1月成立，為香港鮮有以攝影為本的獨立展覽空間，其間展出來自世界各地攝影展的出色作品，備受好評。其展覽空間在2015春後結束運作，專注發展其附屬的線上攝影書店，搜羅本地主流書店鮮有機會發現，世界各地、尤以港台三地出版為主的非主流及獨立出版攝影畫集。The Salt Yard期望能讓公眾有更多機會接觸到這些充滿個性的攝影刊物，認識攝影畫集作為影像內涵載體的重要性，從而對當代攝影趨勢有著更深入的瞭解。
Three Shadows Press Ltd. 三影堂出版有限公司
Three Shadows Press Ltd was registered in Hong Kong, China in 2007. We mainly cooperate with Three Shadows Photography Art Center to publish exhibition catalogues and photography books for their exhibitions. We have published nearly 30 books up until now. Our latest publications: “The Chinese Photobook Collection: Luo Bonian”, “The Chinese Photobook Collection: Yang Fudong”, “Chinese Photography: Twentieth Century and Beyond”, ”Immeasurable: The 2016 Three Shadows Photography Award Exhibition”, and “2016 Jimei x Arles International Photo Festival”.
TOSEI-SHA was founded in 1984. Under the concept of “delivering photography books as bouquets of art to the world”, we publish photography books made exquisitely, to the extent of blending original inks at times. We actively produce publications for renowned photographers such as Hiromi Tsuchida and Issei Suda as well as emerging photographers. From 2005, we have also opened a commercial gallery in Nakano, Tokyo, aiming to introduce one Japanese photographer per month by exhibiting and selling their works.
twelvebooks is a Japan based distributor founded in 2010. We work with international independent publishers and distributes publications on contemporary photography mainly. We market the publications throughout in Japan mainly and the rest of Asia. We are committee member of Fine-Art Photography Association and The Tokyo Art Book Fair in Japan.
Voices of Photography 攝影之聲
Voices of Photography is an independent publication dedicated to contemporary photography. Launched in September 2011 in Taiwan, VOP features contemporary photographers and artists, as well as interviews with artists, gallerists, curators, and publishers and other related professionals worldwide, to share and explore the creativity and philosophy of photography. VOP has been continually promoting the reading and critiquing of images along with ongoing columns on the history of photography, seeking in-depth exploration of the creative concepts, culture and trends behind photography.
《Voices of Photography 攝影之聲》是一份攝影藝術獨立刊物，自2011年9月創刊以來，每期介紹當代攝影作品與影像創作者，藉由與藝術家、出版人、策展人、藝術機構和相關工作者的訪談對話，以及持續推動影像閱讀、評論與攝影史的書寫，探索攝影藝術的創作概念、文化、歷史與思潮。
Waterfall was originally an online collection which combines editorial and curating projects since 2006. After publishing the first printing copy as a thematic journal in 2009, waterfall has now turned into a publishing house/design studio, designing and publishing artist books and other collaboration or commission projects.
Zen Foto Gallery
Zen Foto Gallery was established by Mark Pearson in September 2009 in Tokyo, specializing in Asian photography with a particular emphasis on Japan and China. Our aims are to show interesting exhibitions, to be experimental, to provide stimulating works that would otherwise be rarely seen and to introduce innovative young photographers. Along with most exhibitions, we publish limited edition photography books. In all we hope to provide a forum for greater appreciation of contemporary and historical works of Asian photography.
